Sydney by Kayak COVID-19 update
As a valued customer of Sydney by Kayak, I would like to personally update you on the evolving COVID-19 situation and the precautions we are taking to keep you and our team safe. First of all, yes we are open for business, but we have made some changes and implemented a few things, following advice from authorities.
It goes without saying that our thoughts are with the many and increasing number of people around the world dealing with the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. Like everybody, we have changed our daily lives and operations here at SBK, however, to maintain sanity, we’re continuing to kayak out on the harbour, maintaining our “social distancing” and letting the fresh dawn air restore our spirits. Just like our passion for the environment, protecting public health and making good decisions requires listening to experts and taking personal responsibility.
We have sourced an eco-friendly, biodegradable, marine safe disinfectant that is hospital grade and meets the requirements under the food safety standards, but when dipped in the harbour (after wiping paddles and kayaks), it is also safe for our marine life. This was really important to us, so we are really happy to have found this product.
What steps are we currently taking to minimise any risks?
Our Guides are wiping down paddles, kayak rims and seats, plus disinfecting life-jackets after each tour.
Guides also have hand sanitiser, which is readily available for customers as well.
Our coffee cups are reusable, splash-proof, air-tight cups that are firstly hand washed and then washed again in a dishwasher, so are sterile for each use.
Our waivers are now online, so no more sharing pens and clipboards. Simply click on the waiver link in your confirmation email and sign with your finger or mouse!
Our group tours and couples’ experiences are still operating, but if your travel plans have changed or you are unable or don’t feel comfortable joining our tours, we are offering refunds (minus our usual transaction fee, which is included in the price of your seat), future discount codes and open-ended gift certificates. Please email us, so we can send you more specific details if you wish to cancel or postpone your tour with us.
On the flipside, if you are a new customer and can’t book into one of our tours because they are fully booked, please add yourself to the waitlist/expression of interest list, as we are seeing a lot of movement in bookings, so places may still become available for you.
