Paddling with an Olympian: Jess Fox Joins Our Sydney Harbour Clean-Up Paddle

Wednesday, 24th June 2026Did you know that most of the air we breathe actually comes directly from the ocean? It was a pretty mind-blowing fact to learn, and it was just one of the many amazing things we chatted about back in April when we had the absolute honour of taking Olympic gold medallist Jess Fox out on the water.
In partnership with the Ocean Lovers Festival, Jess joined our team for a very special Clean-Up Paddle on Sydney Harbour. Paddling out with unhindered views of the Sydney Harbour Bridge and the Sydney Opera House was spectacular, but this morning was about so much more than just a scenic paddle. It was a chance to gain a deeper understanding of the beautiful ocean that makes us a harbour city.
While we were out there, Jess helped us remove 4.8kg of waste from the waterways. This adds to the massive 43,000kg of rubbish our incredible community has collected over our 13 years on the water!
But our Corporate Clean-Up Paddle is not just about what we take out of the harbour. It is also about what we put back. We were so proud to show Jess our ongoing restoration work, including the Living Seawall Boulders and our Seahorse Hotel. We know the exact number of returning species because we work closely with the brilliant scientists at SIMS who regularly monitor the habitats and do all the official reporting for us.
It was honestly such a pleasure sharing our harbour, our local stories, and the conservation work we care so deeply about with an absolute Australian sporting legend.
